Birmingham’s The Eastside Rooms is partnering with Greengage Solutions, committing to its Carbon Offsetting Scheme, which the venues says underscores it dedication to sustainability, aligning with its mission to lead the events industry in eco-friendly practices.
Greengage Solutions’ Carbon Offsetting Scheme offers venues and event organisers a toolkit to measure and mitigate their carbon footprint. By adopting the program, The Eastside Rooms will ensure that every event hosted at its state-of-the-art facilities actively contributes to reducing environmental impact.
The scheme supports global initiatives such as reforestation, renewable energyprojects, and conservation efforts, aligning with the UK’s net-zero goals. Key features of the scheme include:
- Scope 3 Emissions: Providing clients with precise data on Scope 3 event emissions.
- Customisable Data: Include unique data such as renewable energy sources, carbon-measured menus, and transportation.
- Delegate Intensity Factor: Calculating the carbon footprint per delegate for more detailed insights.
- HCMI Integration: Aligning with global best practices through seamless integration with the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative (HCMI).
Tim Sparrow, General Manager at The Eastside Rooms, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. By joining Greengage Solutions’ Carbon Offsetting Scheme, we’re taking another significant step toward our commitment to environmental responsibility. We believe that our role as a venue extends beyond providing exceptional spaces—we must also actively contribute to a more sustainable future for our industry and community.”
The initiative complements The Eastside Rooms’ existing sustainability efforts, which include partnerships with Green Tourism, eco-friendly catering practices, and energy-efficient infrastructure.
The venue recently achieved the Green Tourism Silver Award in recognition of its commitment to sustainability, waste reduction, and promoting eco-conscious travel for delegates.
